December 18th, 2010- flight to California (spent one night in Pasadena)
Dec. 19th- parents arrived, spend next week in Santa Ana
Dec. 24th- traveled to Palmdale where we stayed until leaving on 12/31
Dec. 26th- birth mom gave birth by emergency C-section in Lancaster, we were at hospital about an hour or two after the birth and got to see our baby girl shortly after in the NICU- she was beautiful and healthy- named her Brooklyn Grace
Dec. 26th-29th- spent our days and nights in the NICU with B.G. (traded off with my parents back and forth so we could all get some sleep)- very emotional and hard several days as we waited to see if birth parents would sign
Dec. 28th- birth mom is released from hospital and signs relinquishment paperwork that night (B.G. was supposed to go home that day but her body temp was too low and not rising on its own, had to get bloodwork and go in heating bed to get temps up)
Dec. 29th- bloodwork all normal, temps back to normal but still little low, B.G. is released and we get to go "home" to out hotel
Dec. 30th- Jarrod and I travel about 80 miles (almost 2 hours) to CA adoption agency and attorney to sign our paperwork while B.G. stays at hotel with grandparents, about 8:00 that night while about 1/2 way back to our hotel I received phone call from attorney saying birth mom just called and they changed their minds and do not want to place baby (very very hard night and next morning as we for attorney/agency to find out if birth parent paperwork had arrived in Sacramento, capital, and been "officially" stamped yet thus terminating the birth parents rights)
Dec. 31st- after a long night of no sleep and a lot of tears, sometime the next morning we find out the paperwork had not been stamped and B.G. had to go back to her birth parents, 2:00pm- Jarrod and my dad take her back to the hospital to return her to her birth father, booked flight out of CA ASAP, "red-eye" flight that night home to GA
Hardest 6 days of my life so far but wouldn't change those 6 days we had with her...
God, what was all this for??... trusting He has a plan and moving on while we heal...
Fast-forward 3 months....
March 27th, 2011- that evening we received a phone call from agency we used in December- our birth parents from December called them last Thursday night and have changed their minds again and want to place baby, will we take her? SERIOUSLY?? quick discussion and prayers- of course we will take her; birth parents tell agency that want this done right away so agency quickly finds agency in Nevada where they are now living and attorney there, we start packing...
March 28th- phone calls with NV agency and attorney to discuss everything, agency attempts to set up meeting with birth parents to start paperwork but they have other plans that night and can not meet- we start to wonder if this is for real...
March 29th- dinner time- Utah agency calls to say they changed their minds again and its not going to happen- devastated once again...
Seriously Lord, again?? Not understanding his plan but trying my best to trust that He has something better for us...
We will always love "our" sweet girl, her birth parents named her Bella Rose and I pray for her daily.
